Many countries require exporters to heat treat wooden pallets, to reduce the spread of wood pests overseas
PALLET CORP® can supply Heat Treated ISPM15 compliant pallets with IPPC Stamp: with or without Certificate, whichever you required. Certificates are not always necessary, so please check with your shipping agent if this is required or not. We are able to offer heat treatment on all grades of pallets, and we also supply plastic pallets which are an alternative to wooden pallets as they do not require the ISPM15 certification!
From 1st January 2021, all wooden pallets and wood packaging moving between the UK and the EU must meet ISPM 15 international standard (International Standard for Phytosanitary Measure No. 15) by undergoing heat treatment and marking. The rules state that those moving goods outside the EU using wooden packaging must be heat treated and stamped. This will help ease pest contamination and potential risk from pests.
These regulations are in place to help prevent the transportation and spread of diseases and insects that could adversely affect ecosystems around the world.
The wood must have been heated in a special kiln to a specific temperature to eliminate pests and other contaminants.
Pallets that have been through the ISPM 15 process will be stamped with a world-recognised authentication mark, including the logo of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC)
Heat treatment for wood packaging has other benefits too because it tends to make the wood stronger, more durable and more weather resistant.
